Strange celebrations

I was overwhelmingly happy today. For the first time in quite a while I got to talk geek and feel like I am actually working towards something. I met up with my internship teacher to work out what was going to go on next semester. First I learn that I am going to be paid for it!!! That lit up my day right there. But then to get to talk geek with someone who is on my level and does the same stuff I do/want to do, it was great. I also go to order another new computer. We figure since the old laptop is doing its random shut downs again, it isn’t suitable for work. I don’t want to be without a work computer or have to share with someone else. So I’m passing this old bad boy to Tony so he can have a computer to take back and forth to work that doesn’t have to be UBER reliable. I will have the HP for at work (if it ever makes it back here). And I will get the new Toshiba for doing my school and Instructional Design stuff on. If the HP isn’t fixed and back to our house by the 31st I am making them keep it and refund me the money and then I’m not sure what I will do for a work computer. I might have to steal Bailey’s for a while or something. I hate to do it but I think that is the best option. Oh, the computer issues at our house.

What’s the deal man???

I come here on my old laptop and everything is fine. I go home and log on with my new one and I get about a billion debugging errors. It is annoying….maybe I should look into turning those errors off….hmmmm….maybe I should use my head before bitching.

Dear Laptop,

I have really enjoyed my time with you in the past year. You have been wonderful when you are awake. I regret to inform you that you will be replaced in the next month due to your narcolepsy. I know this may seem unfair but I can’t work with someone who powers down unexpectedly in the middle of a project. I could forgive you if it happened once or twice a week but recently it has been upwards of five times a day. Since this behavior hasn’t improved in the past two months I feel I have no other choice but to find your replacement. It has been interviewed and will be in service within the month. Please take this as your two week notice.

Horrible weekend…

So, Saturday I spent the day feeling like crap trying to figure out what in the world could have caused this lethargy and odd brain sensation. I wanted to say I had the flu but last time I checked, the flu did not involve my brain feeling like it was startled every time I moved. Last time I checked the flu continued making you feel like crap even when laying down. So I knew it couldn’t be the flu but, for the life of me, I couldn’t figure it out. So finally on Sunday when I couldn’t take much more I started doing research online and realized that it wasn’t the flu at all. I was experiencing withdrawl from my Effexor!! I had forgotten to take it for the two days prior and withdrawl had begun. Luckily, I had already taken it that morning and within an hour my shocking sensations were almost gone.

Then….

My laptop had decided it was time to start blue-screening. No matter how I started it up, it would blue-screen. So I tried to figure out what to do. In my lovely, still feeling sick and confused state, I decided to put in the recovery disks. Thinking I might have a way to stop it from actually formatting the drive I told it to continue into the program to recover the computer. Needless to say, I was wrong. There was no option farther on to stop the formatting process and now I have lost everything that was on this machine. All our mp3′s are gone. All my stuff is gone….including the flash X-mas presents I was making….the ones I had spent nearly 48 hours working on…..I cried…..it sucks…..I’m still in mourning.

My baby is back!!

Ok, I’m very pathetic. I sent my laptop off to the computer store last Thursday. As soon as I came back after dropping it off I felt as though my house was empty……It was like loosing a limb…..the phantom movement….. *chuckles* Yes, I will say it again, I am pathetic. I felt a little like an addict unable to get their drugs. Nevermind the fact there are 3 other computers in the house, mine was missing. Well, it is back. After a long hard weekend without it, I have my baby back. The computer man was unable to fix it though. Everything appears to be in perfect shape on it. Yet it randomly shuts off…..the strange effects of my presense on computers.
