Holidays

January 5, 2010

Despite the weather, we were able to make the drive to Nebraska for Christmas. It was great to spend time with the family! We miss them all dearly. The kids were thrilled to get to spend the week with Grandma & Grandpa (and Mom was pretty thrilled to get a week off work and away from kids).

On New Years the weather held out again for us to meet Grandma & Grandpa to pick the kids up and bring them home just in time for Michael’s 10th birthday. He really enjoyed his party.

Today is the first day back to school after Winter Break. Michael was very excited but Bailey could have stood staying home for a bit longer (Mom knows exactly how she feels).

Made It!

January 6, 2009

Isn’t it funny how you wait for months for some time off and then halfway through it you are dying to go back to work? I know I’m not the only person who has that problem. Ok, maybe I’m not the majority on that but I know I’m not alone. Either way, I have survived Christmas/Winter break. It was fun, for the most part. Christmas was much better than anticipated. Kids were happy with what they got. We had enough money to make it to Nebraska and back. It was all good.

Tony and I had another spat. I’m really tired of fighting. It nearly ruined New Year’s Eve. But we are good now. I think we are okay again. I hope we can get through this crap. I was always told the first 2 years were hell….it will be 5 in March. Can things get better and stay that way?

For some reason Michael is back on his Star Wars Battlefront kick. He gets a Wii with the games he wanted for Christmas and then he goes back to playing the PS2. Go figure. And then he wants me to play it with him. I don’t do shooting games. I suck at them. I am more than happy to play Lego anything with him or Mario Kart but no, he wants to play Battlefront. And then he makes that sad little puppy-dog face when I tell him I can’t play that game. I know I’ve told him enough times by now that he knows it. He just wants me to give it. Always pushing the envelope.

Bailey played with bubblewrap for 2 hours yesterday. We got 5 long sheets in with the Mario Kart box. She was wrapping them around herself pretending they were shawls and skirts and that she was a fairy. Must remember to buy more bubblewrap for that kid.

Michael was ready to go back to school. Not surprised. Bailey was not. Also not surprised. Today was the first day of eating breakfast at home. It went well. They were all ready for school by 7:35…slightly earlier than planned. Tomorrow we aren’t going to wake them up at 6:50.

Yay!

December 26, 2008

I survived Christmas and have just finished birthday shopping for Michael. I feel like the past few months have been a struggle and I’m so glad to get through it. Now I’m enjoying winter break. I have a week without kids. I’m trying to be productive but since it is day 1 of no kids, that is hard to do. So many things I want to do…mostly just sit around and relax! I think we are going to go see “The Dark Knight” in about 30 minutes. And then I think I am up for a supper of only sushi. I’ve had it a few times but always as an appetizer. I think I’m ready. It sounds good at the moment anyway.

Today concentrating is harder than I anticipated but I’m going to mostly account that to the fact Tony is sitting next to me and I can never get much done with him around either. I’ll have 3 days (hopefully) of peace and quiet to get my work done.

*dances around the room*

Not that I’m looking forward to Winter Break or anything. ;)
